Description

A Bristol community celebration, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Bristol Slogan Sign. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free and open to the public.

At the Bristol Train Station

10am - Twin City Photo Club Photographic Exhibit, lower level (outside entrance or elevator) Autographs, John Rose, Snuffy Smith Cartoonist for King Features Bristol Sign Merchandise (centennial collectibles, etc) Food Vendors (located in the north parking lot)

12 Noon - Sign Talk with Tod Swormstedt, American Sign Museum, upstairs (north room). Talk on the history of signs and significance of the Bristol Sign, open to the public

3pm - Chalk Talk with John Rose, upstairs (north room), Snuffy Smith Cartoonist Cartooning Workshop, open to the public

5:30pm - Gala Reception (Casual), Anniversary Cake by Chef Richards. Music by Appalachian Express Men of Note

In Front of the Sign

7pm – 8:20pm Music, Entertainment & Presentations Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Bristol Sign. Emcee: David Browning as the Mayberry Deput,. Stage Band: Bristol’s Own Dixieland Band, Special Music provided by: The Appalachian Express Men of Note & Light’nin Charlie, Finale will include the lighting of the historic Bristol Slogan Sign at dusk

At The Paramount Center of the Arts

8:45pm – 10pm - "TIMES OF OUR SIGN": A Musical Variety Show –  Musical Variety Show depicting the historical decades of the Bristol Slogan Sign.
Tickets: $5.00 Adults & Students, Children (to 12 years) Free (Tickets on Sale prior to events at Bristol Chamber & Paramount)  Day of the Event: $7.50 Adults & Students, Children (to 12 years) Free.
Emcee: David Browning, Directed by: Danny Hill, Pre-show Music by: Rex Ward on the Paramount’s Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, Music provided by: Bristol Virginia Senior Show Choir, Chris McVey & Light’nin Charlie, Finale will include a special presentation.
