Description
The Ninth Annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day Saturday, April 17 from 9 am to 1 pm. The YMCA is presenting the 5210 theme--5 fruits and vegetables, 2 hours computer/TV, 1 hour exercise and 0 sweetened drinks, all important to developing healthy children and youth. This event is FREE to vendors and attendants and will include FUN! A community team is planning the event; YMCA, YWCA, Bristol Tennessee City Schools, Bristol Virginia City Schools, Sullivan County Schools and Health Department, Bristol Virginia Health Department, Bristol's Promise, Americhoice and Volunteer State Health Plan.
For the kids there will be inflatables, interactive activities and sports demos, fire & safety equipment as well as the National Guard Drug Prevention Trailer. There will be FREE health screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, orthopedic problems, hearing, eye and dental as well as education and health information."Come out, have FUN and Save MONEY!! What could be more fun than climbing a rock wall while also visiting the dentist? NO Co pays required. All screenings are absolutely FREE for All Children!" The YMCA will be providing lots of interactive events on the stage to include "America's Favorite Fitness Coach"Jim Steffen (who was seen in the Leno show) also: Zumba, karate demos and more. There will be GIVEAWAYS for kids who participate in at least 10 of the 55+ vendors providing services. Summer activities available to children and youth will be highlighted.
