Description
Crossover Drive Blue Band performs live at Machiavelli's on June 17 in historic downtown Bristol. Anchored in the tradition of Texas & Chicago Jump Blues, they roll like a freight-train into rip-roarin, hi-energy, Rhythm & Blues jams emulating the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, the Stones & Howlin' Wolf. Right when you think you got em' figured out, they slide right into a classic Funk anthem by Aretha Franklin or Rare Earth & a neck-snappin' Rock-a-billy piece from the Stray Cats or Chuck Berry. Seriously, this band played the most intimate, haunting version of Blue Moon I've heard, did a world percussion jam to end a slammin funk song & closed that set with Kris singin a version of People Get Ready that'll make you wanna call your preacher! Two smokin' lead guitar players, delta-blues harp, several vocalists & a slammin' rhythm section...one of the best band's I've seen live. If you're lucky, they just might drop a tune or two unplugged conjuring an old-school energy more common on a street corner in Memphis in the 40's. I'm not sure I've ever seen a band cover this much ground. ---Mosley Sarsippius Jackson, The After Hours ReviewContact
